This is a hands-on, full-time position with day-to-day duties that include leading instructional efforts by developing and implementing lesson plans aligned with state standards and the school's curriculum for grades 6-8 middle school education. The educator will deliver engaging lessons tailored to diverse learners, collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching methods, and set clear learning objectives. The role also includes fostering positive relationships with parents and the community, communicating student progress, representing the school at district events, and completing administrative tasks like grading.
Working Hours
- Monday - Friday 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
- Hours vary and are dependent on business needs.
- Implement social-emotional learning in alignment with the school's program and integrate throughout the instructional day.
- Prepare and develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and the school's curriculum framework.
- Prepare and deliver engaging and interactive lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of learners.
- Collaborate with fellow educators, staff, and administration to enhance instructional materials, teaching methodologies and progress towards building goals.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities to ensure educational goals are met.
- Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities.
- Monitor and assess student performance through observation and formal assessments, providing constructive feedback to encourage academic growth.
- Facilitate conflict resolution among students and monitor their social and emotional well-being.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and dynamic classroom environment that is conducive to learning and fosters a love for education.
- Effectively manage student behavior, enforce school rules and policies, and address student issues related to health, conduct, and progress.
- Address student issues related to health, conduct, and academic progress.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with parents, guardians, community groups, and other stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and school programs, ensuring transparency and collaboration.
- Represent the school at meetings and events as required, serving as a liaison between the school and the broader community.
- Complete necessary administrative duties, including grading and preparing progress reports, to ensure accurate and timely documentation.
- Utilize technology to prepare instructional materials and enhance instructional delivery and engage students in the learning process.
- A bachelor's degree is required, with a focus in Secondary Education is preferred.
- A valid Colorado state in field teaching license/ or equivalent is required.
- A master’s Degree in Secondary Education or a related field is preferred.
- 1 + years of experience as a state-issued or special services teacher is preferred.
- Intermediate understanding of educational theories, teaching strategies, and the ability to tailor instruction to students in 6th - 8th grades.
- Basic knowledge in child psychology and the developmental stages—physical, social, and cognitive—of children aged 11-14 and be able to use that knowledge to tailor instruction and manage a classroom.
- Basic knowledge of educational technology and digital tools and can leverage that proficiency to enhance learning.
- Intermediate knowledge of state and national curriculum standards and can align classroom activities to these benchmarks effectively.
- Advanced knowledge in educational communication and can communicate effectively with students, parents, guardians, colleagues, and administrators, both orally and in writing.
- Advanced classroom management knowledge and is skilled in creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
- Basic knowledge in student engagement and is skilled at designing and implementing engaging, differentiated lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students, capture student attention, and promote student participation.
- Intermediate knowledge of formative and summative student assessments and uses that knowledge to assess student learning, providing constructive feedback, and adjusting instruction based on performance data.
- Instructional knowledge and can modify teaching methods and instructional materials to meet the varying needs and interests of students.
- Intermediate knowledge of differentiation in education and can understand the needs and challenges of individual students, including those from diverse backgrounds.
- Advanced educational communications knowledge and can collaborate and work with other teachers, support staff, and school administrators to foster a cooperative working environment as well as with families and students.
- Basic knowledge of Leader In Me and 7 Habits materials and can integrate these philosophies into daily instructional methods.
