About Your Role
This is a hands-on, full-time position with day-to-day duties that include supporting, supervising, and assisting students, coordinating instructional activities, maintaining accurate records, and fostering effective communication among teachers, parents, and staff. The role involves enforcing school policies, promoting student development, and contributing to a collaborative and dynamic educational environment.
Hours: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM.
Compensation: $18.17 to $22.26 per hour
*Bromley recognizes up to 11 years of relevant experience
Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities
Student Supervision and Support
- Oversee students in various settings, including classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, school yards, gymnasiums, and during field trips.
- Implement and uphold school policies and rules concerning student conduct.
- Provide individualized or small group instruction to help students understand assignments and reinforce learning concepts.
- Facilitate and supervise recreational activities to encourage physical, mental, and social growth.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to align and coordinate instructional tasks.
- Utilize technology and audio-visual tools to enhance educational presentations.
- Distribute educational materials, such as textbooks, workbooks, and stationery, to students.
- Monitor and document student performance to evaluate progress.
- Record and maintain accurate attendance records.
- Evaluate and record homework and test results using both manual and electronic methods.
- Manage the distribution and collection of tests and assignments.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional learning. Contribute to committees as needed.
Education and Experience Needed to be Successful
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- College coursework preferred.
- 1+ years of experience working with children in an education setting is preferred.
- Basic ability to select and use training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.
- Basic ability to effectively manage meeting multiple competing deadlines effectively.
- Basic ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English for interpreting safety rules, operating instructions, writing routine reports and correspondence, speaking before a group of students or employees, and leading activities utilizing academic language as needed.
- Basic skill in recognizing and understanding others' reactions and the reasons behind them.
- Basic capability to instruct and guide students in learning new skills or concepts.
